What is room/service?
Room/service is an alternative design service that allows the client a do-it-yourself custom room design for a fraction of the cost of what a traditional interior decorating would cost. It allows the client to put their personal touch on a room & lets the space really express who they are as an individual.
Who are room/service clients?
r/s clients are those who may not need to hire Sunset for full range decorating services. r/s is for is for clients who have a limited budget, or who only want to design one or two rooms in their home. R/s clients can live nearly anywhere since most contact with Sunset is done via email & internet.
How r/s works
The way r/s works is very simple, which is why it is a good solution for clients who don’t have the means to hire Sunset for its full range of services. The client provides Sunset with a scaled, dimensioned drawing (h& drawn is fine) of the space to be designed, showing all windows & openings leading into the room. Along with the floor plan, the client sends in pictures or magazine cut-outs that reflect their own style or personal taste, share with Sunset the intentions of the space (i.e., a living room that provides enough room & seating for entertaining, a bedroom with a sitting area to enjoy morning coffee, etc.). Sunset then determines the direction the client wants to go design-wise & create a design for the room. Four to six weeks after the order is placed, the r/s client receives, for each room designed, a box in the mail containing:
- A schematic floor plan of the space with furniture layout, drawn to scale from furniture pieces specified by Sunset, as well as sketches or elevations, where applicable
- A shopping list of the furniture & accessories selected by Sunset, with information on where to buy (given the location of Sunset, most selections will be able to be purchased online)
- A finishes package of flooring, wall paint & hardware specified for the space
- A summary of the design of the space, with instructions on how to pull all elements of the design together
The client can follow the provided design as little or much as they want. The goal is to provide the Sunset client with a personalized space that allows them to add their own touch, & make the space an extension of themselves.
Cost
Cost of Sunset’s r/s services is determined by the space being designed, & the scope of work. Sunset can design the room as little or as much as is needed by the Client. Living Rooms & Kitchens are a bit more involved, & therefore cost more than other rooms.
- Half bath, Entry Way & Hallway: $750
- Bedrooms, Bathroom, Dining & Home Office: $1025
- Living & Family Room, & Kitchen: $1350
